You don't have to include all those modules for scsi (except if you want to boot from your burner) and ethernet cards. You can just put them in the moddb.lrp package and load them with /etc/modules. At least your ethernet cards don't need to be available at early bootstage. > regarding isolinux, I started using > syslinux 3.11 (like for 2.4) but since it did not boot I upgraded to > syslinux 3.2. to be quite frank, I struggled a lot with 2.4.32 as well and > eventually succeeded but without any idea about what I did to succeed !!! > googling the net, I only found that boot failure could be from leaf.cfg > being treated as a DOS file (with CR/LF) and not a UNIX one : I checked > that and was the reason why I tested with the 2.4 initrd package (which > did ascertain that my leaf.cfg was not to blame). another info : when I > include PKGPATH=/dev/cdrom:iso9660 in the isolinux.cfg file (as a command > line sent to the kernel), it does see /dev/cdrom which is then mounted > under /mnt1. Please start without changing anything in the packages, I really don't know what you all changed and what could be the problem. The linuxrc script just looks in /proc/filesystems for valid block devices, loads the LEAFCFG line and mount this device. Nothing more. This hasn't changed from 2.4.x. What could be a problem is that when you created your initrd, a file has become corrupted, like root.blk.mk which creates the /dev block devices. Although in that case setting PKGPATH in isolinux.cfg shouldn't work... Do you have CR/LF in your isolinux.cfg file? That could also be a problem.
