I'm not sure how mount detects what filesystem to use when it isn't specified in fstab, but it would be very nice if it would detect vfat instead of fat when I mount the usb thumb drive. I'm assuming it must be possible because my system (Debian sarge) seems to detect the drive as vfat. I know I can specify it with the -t option, but I always forget and have to remount it. Short of adding an entry in fstab, I can't think of how to make it default to vfat. Anyone know the answer?
