With version 3.0 it is no longer possible to backup (and/or) rebuild the initrd.lrp. you have now several pre-built initrd files with various modules to provide boot off cd-rom, cf, hd and usb. just choose the right one. If you have any other reason to rebuild it, let us know which one it is.
