Here's my experience: - I've installed the tor package (v0.2.0.33 Rev 2 uClibc 0.9.28) - Using a windows-based config/monitoring client called Vidalia I can connect to the tor daemon but get a warning that the version of tor I'm using is outdated. The LEAF package version is v0.2.0.33 - 18 mos out of date of the month-old 0.2.1.26-stable release. - Given the nature of what tor does could I put in a prod for any possible update to the tor engine?
The tor daemon on my LEAF router logs this: ========== Tor[16739]: Please upgrade! This version of Tor (0.2.0.33) is obsolete, according to the directory authorities. Recommended versions are: 0.2.0.35, 0.2.1.23, 0.2.1.24, 0.2.1.25, 0.2.1.26, 0.2.2.7-alpha, 0.2.2.8-alpha, 0.2.2.9-alpha, 0.2.2.10-alpha, 0.2.2.11-alpha, 0.2.2.12-alpha, 0.2.2.13-alpha, 0.2.2.14-alpha ========== which in part says that even going from the 0.2.0.33 to the 0.2.0.35 will be good, if that's an easier compile. The current 0.2.1.26-stable src is linked on this page: https://www.torproject.org/download-unix.html.en They seem to no longer make (easily, at least) available older source so I've sent an email to see about that. Might anyone have an interest in re-compiling an update for the tor package? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF.net email is sponsored by Sprint What will you do first with EVO, the first 4G phone?
