I upgraded from 4.1 beta2 to Releaswe Candidate 1 with no significant
problems. I have been using leaf since the lrp days, and I really
appreciate how much easier the upgrade is now.

The one very small issue I had is that I am running on a Soekris 4801
from Compact Flash. The syslinux in mtools works with a 32mb CF from
the Soekris Leaf box but not with a newer 4gb CF - gives a message
about file system too large. That simply meant I had to run syslinux
on another Linux box to add the bootloader, then it worked fine.

I know this is super paranoid, but it seems to me that I should not
have the whole distribution on the CF flash for security reasons,
especially since these days we are not booting off a write-protected
floppy. So I will to pare down the files to just what I am using.
I use the Leaf/Soekris box as a router for my home network.

Shorewall is set up with a DMZ on which a small web server is running
Leaf Oxygen and the thttpd web server on a truly ancient HP Vectra
machine. I should really update the web server to a newer Leaf, but I
wan't able to get the latest version to work. I believe 3.1.1 beta 3
works. I will try the latest again.

Thanks to the team for a wonderful project!

Tim

All of the data generated in your IT infrastructure is seriously valuable.
Why? It contains a definitive record of application performance, security
threats, fraudulent activity, and more. Splunk takes this data and makes
sense of it. IT sense. And common sense.
