My understanding is that Linux will always show this behaviour. See http://www.tldp.org/LDP/sag/html/buffer-cache.html and in particular: To make the most efficient use of real memory, Linux automatically uses all free RAM for buffer cache, but also automatically makes the cache smaller when programs need more memory. > > VOLUME SIZE SPACE USED Percent Used > / 400.0 MB 17.4 MB 4 % > /tmp 800.0 MB 108.0 kB 0 % > /var/log 800.0 MB 37.2 MB 5 % > Cached memory 54.7 MB 54.7 MB 100 % > Memory buffers 7.8 GB 4.0 kB 0 % > > Physical memory 7.8 GB 129.6 MB 2 % > Shared memory 54.7 MB 54.7 MB 100 % > Swap space - - - > Virtual memory 9.7 GB 129.6 MB 1 % > davidMbrooke ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, SlashDot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ leaf-user mailing list: leaf-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/leaf-user Support Request -- http://leaf-project.org/
