Hi List I use WISP-DIST since longer time now. I had the router installed on a machine with a 16MB Flash-Drive and had no problems at all. I use WISP-DIST as our MAIN-Router for our isp traffic with rip and ospf enabled. I'm also making NAT with this router without any problems. Since our traffic volume is reaching now about 10Mbps I have strange stability problems with WISP-DIST. After some days I get kernel-panics and the router stops responding. In some cases all the data on the flash-drive is gone (This could be also the flash itself, we were using some cheap PQI modules). I try to figure out why this is and had not a big chance to do this since the panic is not logged anywhere. My questions: - Does anybody have the same problems? - Does someone know how to troublehoot this?
I have now to change to a "normal" linux distribution and setup a harddisk in the box, we need back stability for our network. I liked the fact that there're no "moving" object in the hardware (flash), and I would setup again a WISP-DIST router if it's stable enough with higher speeds. I had to setup on the router the following addons to ensure stability: - Keepalived (Setup with three WISP-DIST Routers) - e1000.o (Since we were using Gigabit Network Cards) - Addon NAT Configs Any hints or suggestions to this are very welcome.
