The pythonic getquote email reminded me that I should share my own tool that I've written for dealing with quotes. It uses the perl getquote script packaged with ledger, and just reads the prices.db file for comments of the form "; UPDATE AAPL" (so that I can keep all my stock info in one place), and then it appends new information for each stock so listed. I don't know if there's already a better tool out there for doing this, but this script gets the job done for me.
