Hello,
I'm a new user of Ledger, and I just have a few questions.
1) Is this the same "ledger" command line program as hosted on
Sourceforge? If so is the sourceforge mailing list dead?
2) What is Ledger 3?
3) What is the best way to track commodities that you use rather than
invest in? I like keeping track of the gasoline I use, and what I
bought it at. However, eventually the gasoline is used up and I have
no money returned for it.
3, continued...
Currently I simply record "GallonsGas" as printed on the reciept from
the gas station, for instance...
2010/11/01 Corner Gas Market
Expenses:Auto:Gas:Civic 11.321 GallonsGas @ 2.899
USD
Liabilities:Credit:American Express
That works fine and dandy. I see the GallonsGas in the report of auto
expenses for the Civic, but register reports (for instance) will error
out because it doesn't know what price GallonsGas are. Could I say the
price is 0, and that would simulate losing all my money in it? I've
tried telling it to ignore the price with "N GallonsGas" (IIRC). Isn't
there a way to treat it like any other expense rather than an
investment?
Thanks.
