You might also need some version of LaTex installed. At least ./acprep
dependencies pulls it in, so I assume it's needed (to build the
docs)...

P.S. I have MacPorts installed. When I build debug, it fails 'make
check', but the optimized build passes 'make check'. Very curious what
your make check results are, when you get there.
