Yes, I track my actual pay, and all withholding and other taxes as they are
paid.  My W-2 is simply a confirmation of my own record keeping.

For the actual taxes I keep them all under an Expenses:Taxes:...  tree
For expenditures that are tax deductible, charitable donations, medical
etc, I account for those under the appropriately names account, but meta
tag them with Tax:Deductible

Finding net income is trivially easy, and I don't often ask that question
anyway.
