It would certainly help me for what I was trying to do (see a balance of
accounts with ongoing totals) but I also admit that there might be other
ways to do it. I wouldn't want to suggest a change without fully
understanding the implications. 

As a relatively new user, I did find the lack of consistency confusing,
though. And now that you've explained it to me, it's pretty unclear to
me from playing around how I would use a value expression to filter
accounts by date -- I couldn't get it to accept timestamps or
`[yyyy/mm/dd HH:MM:SS]'. So I guess it would make sense to me to change
account.date, since it would allow it to be more easily accessed (again,
unless I missed something).
