Its actually pretty easy.

1.  Install mac ports.
2.  Install all ledger dependencies using the -s option to force a source
build
3.  clone the git repository on you local machine using instructions on the
ledger website
4.  run acprep opt update in the ledger source directory
5.  make install

There are obviously lots of substeps, but the details can be found in the
documentation.
