Hi Jan-Marc,

We are based in the Netherlands use ledger to do all our accounting,
multi-currency, multiple holding firms, etc. There is nothing in ledger
that inherently ties it to a certain country. That said, we do use several
Ruby scripts to pre-process the ledger files so ledger can easily spit out
VAT (BTW) and ICP (intra-EU booking) numbers. We could conceivably use
ledger to calculate some of those things as well, but the pre-processing in
Ruby is simply what we're comfortable with.

If you set things up correctly it's really easy to keep separate accounts
for different users and still get combined totals (simply create a text
file that includes the different books of all users).
