Martin (B.), thanks a bunch for this overview of beancount, it has been very interesting and instructive for me! > However, I think it would be very easy to write a converter from one syntax > to the other, and vice-versa, given access to the native parser for the > source language. I'm currently using ledger + hledger for maintaining my family's transactions myself (using ledger) and making all details accessible to my family (using hledger), and I'm finding the solution quite hackish and not very satisfiable. Given your description here, and after looking briefly at beancount's source code, I think using ledger + beancount's web interface has the potential of being a much better solution. If so, I'd be happy to give the converter a shot. However, I'd like to give a "serious" try to beancount's web interface and that's not easy to do without the ledger -> beancount converter --- that's a bit of a catch 22. Do you have anywhere, or are you aware of the existence of, a "demo" instance of beancount's web interface, possibly with more than just a couple of sample postings? I think that would be very useful for many potential users. And thanks a bunch for beancount! Cheers. -- Stefano Zacchiroli . . . . . . .
