The preamble route perhaps solves some requirements, but not others. For example, I'd like to be able to use tags and dates (and even just other pieces of text) in account meta-data that I'd like to be able to use with Ledger's filtering and reporting capabilities. I'm hoping the note sub-directive will help in this regard.
