I figured I'd hop on this train: I'm also having an issue related to ledger-font-posting-amount-face. (I am not customizing it.)
Posting amounts with no succeeding posting note appear in the correct font, but when a note follows it (e.g. $42.00 ; the answer to life), the font for the amount then appears to use ledger-font-other-face (though a few other faces share the same color so I'm not sure which it is). GNU Emacs 24.4.50.1 (x86_64-apple-darwin13.2.0, NS apple-appkit-1265.20) (will try updating to the latest head version) ledger-mode-version 3.0.0 (installed from Melpa) Let me know what I can do to help debug further.
