Suppose, I have the following ledger file:
2014/08/07 * Opening Balances

Expenses:Food:Cheese $5
Assets:Cash
2014/08/10 * Salary

Then I generate a balance report:
ledger -f ./test.txt bal Expenses or Income
I get this output:
$15 Expenses:Food
$10 Apples
$5 Cheese
$-100 Income:Salary

Is it possible to hide the subaccounts in the report, getting this:
$15 Expenses:Food
$-100 Income:Salary
--------------------
