You should distinguish between Ledger and hledger - they are different
projects. This mail list mainly talks about Ledger, and there is a
similar list for hledger. The websites http://ledger-cli.org and
http://hledger.org will tell you more.

You didn't say which ubuntu version you have. At
http://packages.ubuntu.com/ you can check which version of hledger (or
ledger) is provided by each ubuntu release. (And if you're still not
getting the expected hledger version for your ubuntu release, perhaps
you need to do apt-get update). If you need more hledger-specific
support, we can do that on the hledger list to avoid spamming the folks
here.
