I started tracking my Roth IRA contributions. For example:

2015-01-01 Automatic Deposit
   Assets:RothIRA 0.531 VOO @ $188.40
   Assets:Checking

But noticed this did not result in correct transactions against the
checking account. The problem appears to be that the fractional shares
reported in my statement are rounded to the thousandths place.

One solution is to use amount expressions. For example:

2015-01-01 Automatic Deposit
   Assets:RothIRA (100 VOO / 188.40) @ $188.40
   Assets:Checking

But I am not actually dividing 100 shares of VOO by a unit-less 188.4.
Instead, I am purchasing as many shares as I can at a unit price of $188.40
for a total cost of $100.00. Is there a shorthand or even more accurate way
to record this?

Thanks!
