Note that the usage of an auto-posting in this way effectively nuls and
voids the verification the double-entry system provides you with. You
can put any garbage numbers in there and it will still work (just to be

Anyway, I understand that giving up some integrity may be problematic.
That's why I said that the system may or may not work depending on
the requirements.
In Beancount, you can implement that with a plugin, one that allows
you to automatically using Peter's currency trading method, without
having to insert a special account (the plugin would automatically
insert transactions whenever groups of postings with the different
currencies don't balance perfectly).
Do you mean an existing plugin or something that a user might write to
extend Beancount?
