If there is a subdirectory of the LedgerSMB directory where it will look first for dependencies, and that can be populated with known to be good versions of the dependencies that all well and good. There would otherwise be issues of over writing files provided by distribution packages or it over writing files from LedgerSMB leading to issues. If it is done that way then I can see it providing a benefit with one proviso, it leaves the LedgerSMB community to maintain those dependencies and put bug fixes in for them.
