Unfortunately, MySQL is not an option.  We want to make absolutely
sure that we have data integrity (which is not possible to the same
extent on MySQL).  In the future, it may be possible for people to
write PHP-based implementations easily, however, as we move more data
logic into the database.

Your point is well taken and I am sure we will be looking at how to
address this.  We are way past string freeze though.

Vendor numbers can be alphanumeric.  If you have further questions, ask away :-)
