I do that to simplify backup procedures. If postgresql has been set up
in the usual way, do the following as root:
service postgresql stop
move the datadir :
mv /var/lib/pgsql/data /home/
and symlink:
ln -s /home/data /var/lib/pgsql/data
- that should do what you want.
