I tried that and it didn't work. If the customer is the previous customer, even though they have an end date in the past, they still show-up in the customer field. Furthermore, that makes the customer inactive when it comes to customer searches which I don't believe is an ideal solution. I still want to be able to enter these customers in the customer field, I just want it to default to an empty value.
