Speaking personally....

I use the Reports/ChartOfAccounts etc constantly and would be sorry to see it 
go. In fact, it would be rare that I would do bookkeeping work and NOT use this 
part of the system in some way.

I like that I can get an overview of all accounts, then select a range of 
transactions by date for a particular account.

Filtering by account is fine so long as you can remember all your account 
numbers (I can't).

I'm sure it's a pain to maintain, but the more different ways I can look at the 
database (without going directly by psql etc), the easier and more powerful the 
system is to use.
