Hello Andrew,
The first think that came to my mind is to try with the CPAN library
instead of the Debian repository one.
as root, try:
# cpan -i Math::BigInt
[yes.. yes.. yes..]
# grep "VERSION " /usr/local/share/perl/5.14.2/Math/BigInt.pm
$VERSION = '1.997';
I just tried last branch 1.3 on Wheezy with CPAN libraries and it worked
fine.
