I think the install steps can deeply vary on OS X. I had to compile PostgreSQL in order to get it to work, but that doesn't seem to be the case for everyone. It really depends on how your Apache and Perl setup is compared to the defaults. Mine was quite different from the system defaults. It should go on the LedgerSMB site, I think we have a Wiki on there.
