Hi,

If you need your own serial number, you can set the format in the database 
creation script at installation time.

This readonly is only true for Sales invoice, because this feature can 
guarantee the strict, gapless computer (lsmb) generated invoice numbers, which 
usually necessary.

AR transaction itselft is a different story, as that could contain 3rd party 
invoice numbers, other kind of IDs etc.

Hmmm, I think we found a "bug", Sales invoice should be completly independent 
of AR transaction but now if the user left empty the AR transaction number 
field, it will be populated from the invoice serial number (sales invoice/art 
transaction) field, which will mess up the gapless invoice theory.

I am busy now, later today I will file a bug into SF.
