The .pngs are probably where the problem lies.  I am working on a file
redirection layer to the database (using our in-db file attachments) but
that's not really ready right now.  The pngs will have to remain in the
filesystem for now.

Templates are stored as text fields, so PostgreSQL checks for
UTF8-correctness.  Again, working on binary support but it isn't there yet.

That sounds like a compile error with the module.  Please try this in your
LedgerSMB root dir:

perl -MLedgerSMB::Template::LaTeX -e print

Please send me the resulting output.
