My ex sister on law actually did that...... They had a habit of moving, and whilst their eldest son was at uni, they moved - neglecting to tell him. Much discussion ensued when he went to what he thought was home! Pre mobile days - he ended up walking a few miles to his Nan's to find out where his folks had moved to.
