It will be interesting, especailly after yesterdays performance, to see what
team he picks on Tuesday night. Last year due partly to the quality of
oppositon (4 games v Prem teams) he mainly stuck to the same starting XI and
this may account for the poor end to the season.
It made sense with all the new boys, after the defeat to Derby, to pretty much
pick the same team v Lincoln (Naylor only one not picked?) in an effort to get
used to each other and to try and build conifidence with a good win.
For me on Tuesday he needs to rest Naylor again and bring in Bruce. He should
also think about giving Bromby (not even on bench yesterday) a run out - if he
is to be a genuine part of the squad. Somma should probably start too - gives
Becchio a much needed rest, it is hard playing up front mainly on his own, also
gives Somma some much needed match time agaisnt decent opposition to see if
yesterday is the start of something good or is a flash in the pan. Max also
needs to start to get him to match fitness and maybe Hughes and Clayton (if he
is staying on and if City will let him this time).
Perhaps Higgs should also start , just to keep his hand in, and maybe even
Grella who needs to get on the pitch to see if he is up to it (once Paynter is
fit or maybe even before I expect him to be sent out on loan)
So lots of things for Grayson to ponder - a cup run is always welcome, but for
me he needs to pick a team that will most help us long term in the League
Dave
