At more than 50% of turnover, I was surprised at the size of the wages bill. I thought Mr. Bates was tighter than that ;).
After a quick "rule-of-thumb" guesstimate, I was also surprised that gate receipts work out to only about half of the turnover too. I had assumed that in the lower leagues (the figures are surely for the last year in the 3rd division) gate receipts would be by far the bulk of a club's income.
