I too can also vouch for the fact that Smith never kissed the badge. I have a coworker who is a lifelong scum season ticket holder who todl me it became a bit of a running joke between Smith and the Scum fans about the badge kissing.
Would I like Smith back at the club - a year ago I would have said no but if he's going to fit in with the wage structure why not ?
