Just watched the highlights of the reserve 3 0 victory over Scunthorpe in which
Zac Thompson played. He did not do anything special-2 long range shots, one
pulled well wide, the other just skimmed the bar- but seemed tidy enough. Lots
of short passes and he seemed to patrol a very small centre in the middle of
the pitch - never shown wide or getting back or forward. Much to soon to judge
and cannot judge on 15mins of highlights in any event.
What was noticeable however was the link up play and general understanding
between Grella and Somma.  Not sure how often they have played together in the
reserves but they seemed to read each others movement very well and looked a
real handful. Whether Grayson thinks that Grella is good enough on his own to
merit a first team place is doubtful but on this showing I would like to see
more of the pair. Somma looked good and was quite sharp though he did miss a
couple of decent chances. Grella took his goal well being put through by a
brilliantly weighted through ball by Somma that he pushed past the keeper and
rolled into an empty net. Somma scored from the spot when he was tripped as he
danced past a coupe of players inside the box,
A similar result against Scunthorpe first team on Saturday would be nice
