I thought we were lucky not to be 3-0 down after 20 minutes as we seemed to be
overawed by the Arse, but then we slowly clawed our way back into the game
after going 2-0 down. For 20 minutes in the second half I thought we were the
better team, we were first to the ball, closed down their men when they had the
ball and began to start playing some good football and looked the most likely
to score, then against the run of play they got the 3rd which was a very well
worked goal and it was van Persie's fresh legs that enabled him to lose his
marker. To me it seemed they targeted Parker early on as the weakest link and
Snodgrass as the strongest player, he was always marked by two people.Paynter
was like watching an untalented, uninterested Mark Viduka it was a great relief
to see Somma come on and he so nearly scored with his first touch, the ball
just came at the wrong height and all he could do was fling a limb at it and
hope. The ref was very frustrating, calling silly fouls whe
n it's a contact sport ffs, don't blame the Leeds players getting frustrated
with himGradel - ran his bloody socks off all night, never stopped tracking
back and caused them problems all nightSnodgrass - marked out of the game but
what an incredible track back late in the game when he nipped the ball away
from an Arse player who was free in the box.Schmeichel - Hate his Dad but love
him. Great to see such passion and commitment, had to laugh at 3-1 down when he
came up for the corner and didn't want to go back when Bromby got the long
throw in.Watt - was disappointed, was hoping he'd be really up for it but he
seemed a bit anonymous.
Anyway, immensely proud of the team and their commitment and effort and also
for some of the football they played for a period in the second half. Ditto for
Grayson and the fans, well done to everyone who was there last night, we had 20
odd in a NYC bar which was pretty impressive in itself.
Best,

Jeremy
