The word from Thom Kirwin (Yorkshire Radio) and Paul Dews (is he still at
the YEP?) is that O'Brien is unlikely to feature on Saturday but Becchio may
be back. Bromby brings the element of the long throw which can cause
problems for defences!

Subject: [LU] Arsenal report

Again most of you will have seen it on TV so will keep it short. We were
well beaten by a much better team, but having said that we can take great
credit from last night. We fans showed the watching world that in these days
of sanitised, corporate, prawn sandwich eating fans, WE can still create an
atmosphere at home, and, just as important, we can keep it going even when
we know the game is lost - lets face it we knew after 5 mins when Nasri
scored that we were going out.
Some great songs- 'that's why you're 52" sang to their no 52 when he missed
a chance 'who needs Cec Fabrigas, we've got Rob Snodgrass'  - does not quite
scan but was belted out with gusto, and my fave 'are you Watford in
disguise' - sang by the lad next to me who misheard when everyone else was
singing 'Walcott in disguise' after an Arsenal player went down very easily.
Things could have been different but two big mistakes stopped us getting
anything from the game - the poor clearance from the otherwise good O'Brien
that went straight to the full back who hammered it home, and the miss by
Somma when it hit his knee on his first touch If either of these -
especially the Somma chance to equalises - had gone our way then maybe just
maybe .....
Having said that we were second best in most areas and the final score was a
fair reflection Some good things - Howson, Gradel, and Snoddy all looked
capable of playing at the higher level, Sam came on a nutmegged one of
theirs , Kasper made a brilliant save and as for Johnsons wonder strike
well it was just that .. a wonder So overall nothing much to get upset or
worried about - just hope that O'Brien is fit for Saturday and that Grayson
is able to get the players up for it and they are not too tired.
Glad to see that Bromby now appears to be in front of Collins in the pecking
order - hope that proves to be the case if O'B is injured for Sat.
As for Paynter he seems to have attracted a lot of criticism on here and
certainly he was not very effective, but he does control and hod the ball up
better than Becchio but lacks his 'nuisance value'. I think he may come good
if he has a decent run of games, especially if he can get a goal soon but
agree that Becchio should probably get the nod on Sat if fit by then.
Dave
