Rich W asked: - > Tell me that I'm wrong ?
No, you're not wrong but it's not as black and white as that. McFail was lightweight but isn't now. Viduka was at times sublime but neither he nor Kewell would track back. Harte was short of pace but this wasn't helped by Kewells failure to track back or cover as was confirmed by the subsequent failure of Lucic and Bravo. Crainey was shite but he's in the prem now. You could equally say that Batty would never shoot at even an open goal but the point missed would be that scoring goals wasn't his strength. Becchio's strength is being a nuisance, getting into the danger zones and punishing shite defenders. I know he can't pass, we all know he can't pass but he can score goals. The more he scores the bigger reputation he gets. The bigger reputation he gets the more attention defenders pay to him. The more attention they pay to him the less they pay to the skillful trio. The more space they get the better the system works and the better Becchio is doing his job for the team.
