I recall us being well beaten at an away match at Blackpool in the mid 60's.
That was a midweek winter night match. Everywhere shut, wet, cold, miserable
place.
Stood next to a home supporter who kept shouting "come on Charnley".
Evertime he did this Charnley seemed to oblige and bang one in.
Depressing journey home and the Wallace Arnold driver was in a foul mood and
wouldn't drop anyone off even though the Leeds buses had finished for the
night.
The best part of an away match at Blackpool was the ground being near to the
British Railways engine shed, usually full of lots of steam locos. More fun
sneaking round there before the match than wasting time on the Prom.
For all those looking forward to a weekend on the lash in Blackpool,
I'd
wager a good few quid that that fixture will be on a Tuesday night in
January!!<<
