No, unfortunately not. But if I joined a company where the going rate was
£30k for my trade but signed on for £15k for a couple of years, proved
myself as equal to those around me on £30k+, then I was offered £20k, I'd
probably ask for the going rate to be fair.

I'm not advocating his stance btw...
