Since 2007 when Ken Bates became Chairman of our club following administration and under new owners (an offshore trust named Forward Sports Fund) supporters have had questions they feel they have never had answers to: Who are the beneficial owners of the club? Who owns the ground? Why didn't we purchase Thorp Arch back under the terms of the favourable agreement? Recently one of those questions was answered when Ken Bates announced he had purchased a 73% percent stake in the club and therefore became the majority shareholder, but even this left more questions than answers such as how did Mr Bates know who to negotiate with to purchase his stake if he didn't know who owned FSF?
The process of administration during 2007 and the circumstances surrounding the purchase of the club by FSF has been the subject of much scrutiny and it is with this in mind that we acknowledge why MP Damian Collins has called for an inquiry. We also hope that this inquiry is able to uncover the whole truth and provide the answers Leeds Utd's supporters deserve for it is they who suffered the 15 point deduction hardest, they who have paid heavily to support the club through the turnstiles home and away during this time and it is they who will still be supporting the club with their hearts and their wallets in the years to come regardless of who owns the club. These are honest and loyal Leeds Utd supporters who are guilty of nothing other than loving Leeds Utd. We sincerely hope this is borne in mind throughout the inquiry and by those dealing with its findings.
