You need to stop measuring the value of players at our level in terms of
transfer fees. Post-Bosman it's pretty much irrelevant, equating to no more
than the value of an outstanding contract - so if a player has 12 months'
outstanding at £10k/week, you'll have to pay the club around £500k.
This is why players tend to sign for championship clubs on shorter
contracts these days. Bosman changed the business model.
I expect we'll pick up mainly frees and loanees. That's the way it is
these days.
