Matt I've been using an HTC Desire HD for the past six months and the one thing that makes me very happy about it is the camera. It is awesome as is the video.
The apps for email, etc.. work fine and I love the fact that I can easily read word and pdf attachments
Mine has just upgraded to Gingerbread and seems very stable in spite of some reports otherwise.
Having said that I do think a better battery is a must and that you need to clear some of the junk off the phone. I did have an initial problem with the SD Card but Vodafone just gave me a £20 credit and I grabbed a 16GB card for 15 off amazon.
Favourite app? Got to be the weather thing. I'm always checking weather because of things like sheep shearing, haymaking and of course worldnet.............. :-)
I haven't really used an iphone but I would think you could easily do a comparison if you found a pal with an HTC to check it against.
