Striker Mikael Forssell made his first appearance in a Leeds United shirt on Wednesday in a behind-closed-doors game at Middlesbrough.
The Finnish international was part of a strong United side which headed up the A19 for a friendly with the Teessiders. Middlesbrough won the game 2-1, coming from behind in the final 20 minutes after Charlie Taylor put Leeds ahead, andSimon Grayson and his staff were all casting a watchful eye over proceedings. "I said last season when we pulled out of the reserve league that these games are important to us," said the boss. "This is what we plan to do this season to make sure players are getting time on the pitch. "We had a fairly strong side out and a lot of players got 90 minutes in which is important to keep their fitness levels up. "It was an opportunity to look at Mikael as well. Understandably, he's a little bit short on match fitness, but he showed the qualities that we've seen before from him." United: Rachubka, Connolly, O'Brien, Bruce, Bessone, Sam, Thompson, Hatfield, C Taylor, T Taylor, Forssell. _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman-new.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] MARCHING ON TOGETHER (There's it)
