However it happened must be devastating for his family - to have the
hope/joy ripped out from underneath so suddenly is tragic, I only hope his
last few weeks were some of the happiest of his life as he believed in
having that future.

My thoughts were that the cancer had left him with very little lung
capacity, and any infection, even from a simple cold, would be extremely
dangerous.  Especially if his immune system was still building up after his
treatment.

What a horrible disease cancer is.

  Sad news indeed and as I said elsewhere I was somewhat shocked as, like
  so many others have commented, things seemed to be improving.
  It's less than three weeks ago he said in his blog he was told my the
medics
  he was now offically in remission so what happened? Why the reversal?
  Does anyone know?
