Well that was as bad as it gets - in some ways it was even worse than Blackpool !Yes the ref was terrible and seemed against us, yes the first goal was caused by a slip by Sam and then a mishit, yes the second was a Rachubka-like save by McCarthy, yes the weather was wet windy and wild and so hard to play football inBUT - we were awful, totally awfulFor me, of the midfield and front 9 (inc subs) only Howson who was outstanding and Snoddy earned their wages: the rest of them should be ashamed when they pick up their pay packets / bank statements. Total lack of effort and skill. A lad behind (admittedly for my benefit) shouted " come on Clayton you lazy Manc bast*ard" and I had to agree.Sam and Becchio, the two players who were fighting for their places looked totally out of their depth and looked like they did not want to be in the first team !It was a 3pm Saturday kick off - a rarity these days - against local rivals and yet the atmosphere was so low key it was unbelievalbe , it really was like a library for the most part. The idea of putting away fans in the West Stand so that Leeds have behind both goals to boost the atmosphere, really is not working. I never heard the Barnsley fans but at least they looked like they were getting behind their team unlike both the Kop and South Stand who watched in almost complete silence (with a few boos for Lloyd Sam)On the bus back to Leeds fans were split over whether it was the fault of Grayson, Bates or the players. Whichever it was a poor day out and I doubt if any Leeds fan enjoyed it at all.Our goal for what it was worth was a lovely free kick by McCormack. Nunez should have scored at the end to draw the game but we did not deserve anything from today.Howson really gave it 100% in a proper captains performance, trying everything he could to get the rest of the team fired up but to no avail. Snoddy looked dangerous throughout - if he had pace he really would be a top player, but the rest were a total wash out.So to sum up, in case you have not got it yet - we were dreadful, the game was dreadful and unless we can up our game and get Clayton playing properly again then our time in the play off zone will be short lived Dave _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org
