I heard this live yesterday, and was very moved by the genuine grief and
outpouring of sympathy to his family. Some lovely stories of Gary Speed, all
with the common theme that he was an absolute gent, who was as generous to
others with his time off the field as he was dedicated to his team on it. He is
indeed a sad loss. I like the idea of packing out Elland Road in his memory,
and I think it might be a nice gesture if the club lowered ticket prices for
the Millwall game to enable this to happen. I think a minutes applause is
preferable to silence, as there is always some moron who thinks it's an ideal
time to have his (usually drunken) voice heard. Simon Grayson was interviewed
on Sky news this morning from outside Elland Road, and in the background,
Billys' statue was adorned with lots of scarfs and other tributes. He also
seemed genuinely shocked, particularly since so much of his career was linked
with Gary Speed - signed for Leeds on the same day, did their coaching b
adges together etc. RIP Gary Speed
