Just for a laugh I've just been onto an Ipswich forum, to see what they made of their comical defending today. Ibrahima Sonko should be named Leeds man of the match, having been resonsible for the sending off and the first two goals! Tim W. When you see things like that then no wonder the atmosphere at English grounds has deteriorated over the years.
Same squad from Blackpool game apart from Carson and our bench was a true Bench of Shame, so called professional footballers: Bullard, Chopra, Leadbitter. 1st half in which we were the better team albeit we should have shown more courage. Only one goal whereas we should have put the game to bed. Short corner between Martin and Drury , the latter hit a shot which should have been easily parried by their keeper. However the ball somehow flew under him and we were deservedly 1 up. Leeds have been very, very poor. Not even a single scary moment in front of McCarthy's goal. We looked better, comfortable. Hyam, Drury and Martin were our most impressive players. Hyam very brave and looked like an experienced pro, Drury made many good tackles. I don't know what Jewell said to them in the dressing room but from 55 minute we changed the tactic for some, unknown reason. Instead of continuing what we had been doing in the first half we started defending and Leeds smelt a blood. A few dangerous moments followed by Ibrahima Sonko Show that started 20 minutes from time. First he chased the ball with Leeds striker and headed back to McCarthy. It all happened outside the box. Our keeper may have been surprised with that but why he handled the ball? Obvious red card. 4 minutes later Snodgrass equalised for them after brilliant pass from Sonko..... oh you all have to see it on TV. Snodgrass probably have never had a better assist in the box. Shocking, kamikaze pass. I don't know what Sonko was doing. Soon after Sonko left Lee-Barrett one on one with McCormack. Sonko should have chased it instead of leaving keeper to deal with it. Lack of understanding between them, Lee-Barrett also indecisive and another embarrassing goal turned out to be a fact. Despite late additions (Chopra, Bullard) we were no threat whatsoever being left with 10 men. Third goal for Leeds was Smith's schoolboy mistake but the game was out of sight at that moment and he didin't have a bad day overall. Final whistle and huge frustration and anger among travelling Town fans. We have lost a game against the poor opposition who didn't have to create much for their goals. Just plain gifts from Sonko ruined our day and proved yet again that the coffin called League One is getting closer and closer. The positives from the day were three players I mentioned above Drury, Hyam and Martin. At least there is someone who wants to play for the shirt. McCarthy??? He's a lifeless mummy and doesn't offer anything better than Lee-Barrett. He can go back to Reading for me. Stupid red card. Yes he may have been surprised with Sonko's headed pass but why handle outside the box? Sonko? Mistakenly played in blue shirt instead of white one. You must wonder whether he did it purposely what he did today. I can't find the words to express how I hate him and never want to see that pile of s**t in our shirt again. Has he been paid by the bookies or what? I can't believe in the way he ruined all team's effort today. This is the cruellest period of time in my 31 years since I started loving Ipswich Town and I feel very low. Of course defeats happen and always will but you can't accept what happened today. You all may be saying : 'we've been playing well recently, we need a bit of luck, give Jewell a time he'll urn it around'......
