Why? In his 5 seasons managing teams in the championship he has taken his team
to the playoffs twice, won the title twice and only missed out by one spot the
other season. And he has kept Wolves in the Premiership for the last two
seasons and which is no mean achievement for a club like Wolves. He has one
blot on his record which is the season in the Premiership with Sunderland, but
that apart I think his record as a manager is certainly one of a winner. I
think he could be a great manager for Leeds.

Why would we want McCarthy? How much credibility is he going to have walking
into our dressing room: "Hi lads. In my last game my team got tonked 5-1 at
home by their fierce local rivals, but I'm going to make you better." I think
we'd be better off going for a young manager who is outperforming at his
current job and can not only get us promoted but can take the Premier League by
storm, like Norwich did with Paul Lambert, clearly a born winner. I don't know
the lower leagues well enough to identify that guy, but there must be one or
two. The next best option is to bring in a promotion specialist like Warnock on
the understanding that he gets a massive bonus if he gets us up, but not a long
term contract, allowing the club to bring in a top manager once we're in the
Premier League.

Cheers!

Sean

Ehh didn't I say exactly that two weeks ago after Larry got the sack? And now

that McCarthy is free I think he's favourite for the post - I think the line

about Redfearn being in for the next 3 matches was to buy time for things to

line up (i.e McCarthy to get the inevitable sack from Wolves) - least I'm hoping

that was the plan - possibly I'm giving the board too much credit!!

McCarthy IN!

I see Wolves got smashed by West Brom today. Might McCarthy get sacked soon? If

so , I think he would be a good option for us. Great record of getting teams out

of this league. Yorkshireman and Leeds fan.

Discuss.
