http://www.leeds.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=272703 Phil Brown has
admitted to applying for the vacant Leeds United manager`s job.
Brown was a guest on the late kick off show on Monday night.
When asked whether he was interested in the post by host Guy Mowbray, Brown
said, "I have put my CV forward. At the end of the day, it is Leeds United,
one of the greatest football clubs in the country.
"Unfortunately they were in League One for a number of years and now they are
in the championship and they look like they are going to have another season
in the championship unless someone can raise a gallop in the next sixteen
games.
I still believe that Leeds United have a chance of sneaking into the play offs
and then who knows. Once you are in the play offs, you are Leeds United, a big
club and the size of the club can carry you through."
Brown made his name at Hull City, where he led the side from a club fighting
relegation to one winning promotion to the Premier League in his first full
season in charge.
He defied the odds by keeping Hull in the Premier League in their first season
in the top flight but he was dismissed in March of the following season after
seeing the club drop into the relegation places.
Brown has recently had a stint in charge Preston North End.
He took over in January 2011 and could not prevent the club from relegation to
League One.
After a poor start to this season, Brown was dismissed in December.
Leeds have yet to announce anything regarding the vacant manager`s position
apart from saying that caretaker manager Neil Redfearn will be in charge until
at least the game with Doncaster this coming Saturday.
